Packaging EPR compliance · Shopify brands
Packaging laws are here. Panic is optional.
Seven states have enacted packaging EPR laws. Two are already invoicing fees, and the rest are phasing in through 2030. Packledger pulls your Shopify catalog and order history, maps what you actually shipped to each state's rules, and gets your reports ready. On reviewed plans, a compliance expert signs off before anything is filed. No consultant, no spreadsheet marathons.

Why brands use Packledger
Store to filing
How it works
Connect your store
Link your Shopify store and we pull your product catalog and order history automatically. No exports, no uploads.
We do the homework
The engine maps your packaging and matches what you actually shipped into each state against all seven enacted EPR programs — materials, weights, fees, and deadlines.
Expert review, then file
File the reports yourself, or have a compliance expert check the output and sign off before anything is submitted. Every decision lands in your audit trail, pinned to the rules version it was made under.
Behind the curtain
AI does the toil. Humans do the judgment.
AI is great at the spreadsheet work: pulling catalogs, mapping components, calculating fees, filling forms. It shouldn't be the last word on a filing that costs real money if it's wrong. So on our reviewed plans, a compliance expert reviews the final 10% and signs off before anything submits. That's the whole model.
Non-compliance risk
What it costs to ignore it
These are not planning estimates. They are the maximum civil penalties each statute allows once a regulator issues formal notice and the violation goes uncured.

A single uncured violation at California's $50,000 daily maximum.
Highest single-state daily maximum
$100,000 / day
Minnesota's cap for a third or subsequent violation, per day.
Figures are the maximum civil penalties available under each statute as of 2026. Actual penalties depend on violation type, duration, and regulator discretion, and most states require formal notice first: California penalties accrue 30 days after notification, and Maryland and Washington allow a 60-day cure window. Maine has no program-specific penalty schedule yet; its general environmental penalties apply.
